Working Group 1 – L&T Development Opportunities

To take the pulse of Greater Montreal’s freight transport and logistics sector and recommend development outlooks and opportunities.

To provide tools and metrics to stakeholders in the Greater Montreal freight transport and logistics sector designed to improve their competitive strength and increase their contribution to the territory’s economic development.

There is momentum behind the CargoM initiative. It’s driven by people who are passionate and excited about the prospects of our sector’s working together around shared objectives.

  • Improve transport and logistics efficiency in Greater Montreal.
  • Determine the key elements needed to attract new distribution centres and to make Greater Montreal a hub that is both recognized and sought after for its competitive strength.
  • Define the different logistics hub concepts for Greater Montreal.

Involvement in industrial port zones development committees, for Montreal and Contrecoeur-Varennes.

Involvement in the Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve. Borough public consultations regarding the “Cité de la logistique” urban development project, as well as the OCPM’s (Office de consultation publique de Montréal) public consultations on the Downtown Strategy.

Meeting with foreign companies looking to develop their activities in Greater Montreal and to retain the services of members of the metropolitan supply chain.

Collaboration with the Montreal Metropolitan Community, Montreal International and the Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal, resulting in the implementation of ZOOM Greater Montreal, a georeferenced map promoting the metropolis’ different development opportunities.

Promoting the hub by building relationships with our economic development partners, namely Montreal International and the Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal.

Development of a promotional brochure, Why choose Montreal?, which will be used to highlight the many logistics and transportation advantages of Greater Montreal.
